What is a lashing eye?

A lashing eye must be mounted on the loading floor or on the sidewall of the van or trailer. This allows cargo to be securely fastened with lashing straps and prevents it from being damaged or displaced during transportation.

Other names are: binder, recessed tie down, floor ring and anchor point.

Lashing eyes are available in different types:
  • recessed (this keeps the floor flat and allows the cargo to be easily pushed across the floor);
  • double (moves right and left);
  • single (moves either right or left).

Selecting the right lashing eye

The selection depends on the type of cargo being transported. Heavy-duty machinery requires more robust lashing eyes than when transporting light, sturdily positioned cargo.
